Cellist Rose Bellini is a versatile performer of classical, amplified, improvisational, crossover, and experimental music. She regularly performs with contemporary music ensembles, modern dance companies, bands, and chamber and orchestral groups around New York City and across North America. Rose has appeared with the FLUX Quartet, East Village Opera Company, Phoenix Ensemble Ensemble Pamplemousse, TACTUS, Zero Gravity, Astoria Symphony, and in venues from Monkeytown to Symphony Space to Carnegie Hall.
Recent performances include amplified and experimental works, performance with electronics and processed sounds, genre-bending rock/classical works, and modern dance collaborations. The New York Times described an improvised score with the Dance Imprints company as “juicily atmospheric…add[ing] to the dance’s quiet complexity and mystery.”
Her primary teachers have included the distinguished cellist Janos Starker and the dynamic Emilio Colón, under whom she received her Doctor of Music in in Cello Performance at Indiana University. By day, Rose is Assistant Director of Development for New York’s own Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and on the Board of the Switchboard Music Festival in San Francisco.
