Kate Campbell is a pianist performs frequently as a soloist and chamber musician, specializing in late 20th century and contemporary works. She has worked with many leading composers, including Steve Reich, Terry Riley, and David Lang, as well as premiering many works by emerging composers. She has had the pleasure of performing with members of Bang on a Can All-Stars, SIGNAL, and Eighth Blackbird. Recent projects include appearances with the Adorno Ensemble, performing for the Bang on a Can Summer Festival, the Switchboard Festival, and the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium, and recording for New Amsterdam Records. Kate is also the co-director of New Keys, an ongoing concert series in the San Francisco Bay Area showcasing new and adventurous works for the piano.
Kate currently teaches piano at Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, NJ. Previously she was Adjunct Professor of Music at University of San Francisco. She has also been on the Piano Faculty at San Francisco Community Music Center and Crowden Center for Music in the Community in Berkeley, CA.
Kate received her Bachelor of Music degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and her Master of Music from University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was the winner of the Beethoven Competition and a finalist for the Wisconsin Public Radio Neale-Silva Young Artists Competition. Her primary teachers were Cathy Kautsky and Paul Hersh.
