REDSHIFT is an ensemble of young, dynamic classical musicians with a collective commitment to performing music in distinctive venues.  Currently focused in New York City and San Francisco, REDSHIFT’s core ensemble is comprised of five musicians who draw on vast experience performing all types of classical music – from the traditional to wildly experimental.

Performances by REDSHIFT defy many of the urban myths associated with classical music, and especially contemporary music: that it is difficult to understand, that it is not cool or fun, and that it can only be appreciated by concert hall connoisseurs.  REDSHIFT presents its programs with a style and intensity that invites audiences to experience the music on both a visceral and intellectual level.

Every REDSHIFT performance demonstrates the ensemble’s mission: to promote the experience of live classical music (in particular contemporary music) through virtuosic performances in interesting venues, to foster appreciation for the music’s artistic value through friendly audience interaction and development, and to present music that represents composers from a range of styles and career stages.
